Mt Pleasant, TX (December 18, 2020) - Smarty Roping had a strong showing at the 2020 Wrangler National Finals Rodeo (NFR) in Arlington, Texas. With 15 members of their pro team competing, Smarty pro team members found great success.

Smarty pro team member, Jackie Crawford, made history by becoming the first-ever Wrangler National Finals Breakaway Roping World Champion. Her husband Charly was also an NFR qualifier this year. Charly and his partner, Logan Medlin, won round 7 with a time of 3.8. This was Charly’s 10th and final NFR appearance as he plans to retire.

In tie-down roping, Shad “Money” Mayfield kept everyone on the edge of their seats up until the last second when he secured his first-ever NFR World Championship. This was Shad’s 2nd NFR appearance. Shad joined the Smarty pro team in May of this year.

With representation of 12 members of the Smarty pro team in team roping, each night proved to be more interesting than the last. With multiple Smarty pro team members taking home round wins, it was Paul Eaves who managed to pick up his second world championship.

“I couldn’t be more proud of this group of men and women,” said Allen Bach, Founder and Chief Branding Officer. “2020 was a challenging year on all fronts, but these guys worked hard, and that work paid off.”

Smarty Roping would like to congratulate all of its pro team members on a job well done this year. For more information and updates on Smarty Roping and our pro team members, please visit our website ( or our social channels (@smartythesteer).
