Who is your favorite pro rodeo athlete?
Kaden: Jade Corkill
Burgan: Kaleb Driggers
Riley: Patrick Smith
Pepper: Tyson Durfey and Ren Richard
How do you prepare yourself for an intense rodeo and school schedule?
Kaden: I clear my mind and run one steer at a time
Burgan: I focus when I am in school so I can get all of my work done and eliminate homework so when I get home I can focus on roping!
Riley: If I will be out of town for a rodeo, I do my school work on weekend or on free nights. This is easy because I am homeschooled. To prepare for the rodeo I work on the dummy a lot and make sure I have not developed any bad habits. I also watch videos to motivate me for my events.
Pepper: Lots of sleep and working out
Tell us a little about your horse?
Kaden: Bud is 19 years old and he has been pro rodeoed on for the last 5 years. He's a seasoned veteran.
Burgan: My team roping horse is an 11 year old grey gelding named Ice. He is my baby. I can head, heel, breakaway, run poles, run barrels, cut, and punch cows on him. I can also put anyone on him and he takes the best care of my little brother. My breakaway horse is a 6 year old strawberry roan amre that isn't really punchy at all. LOL. But she is a wicked calf and heel horse! She has won both me and my dad a lot of rodeos, ropings, and money! I am very grateful for my horses!
Riley: My horse's name is Duke. He is a Quarter Horse gelding. He is 15.2 hands and is a palomino. He gets excited easily but is a good boy and does the job. I use him for all of my roping events.
Pepper: His name is Roany, he is a red road I bought about 3 months afo and is doing great. I can't wait to rodeo on him.
What songs gets you pumped up before a rodeo/roping?
Kaden: Chosen One and Legend
Burgan: Only the Fat (Roosevelt Road) and rap!
Riley: The Charlie Daniels song called "Bull Riding Son of a Gun"
Pepper: All of Roosevelt Road's songs
What’s your favorite meal on the road?
Kaden: Whataburger Monterey Melt
Burgan: Chick-fil-a or leftovers
Riley: Burger, fries, and soda
Pepper: Hamburger and fries
What do you want to major in college?
Kaden: Ranch Management and Welding
Burgan: I am planning on going to SUU and majoring in architecture with a minor in interior design
Pepper: I really haven't decided what I want to major in
What’s your favorite subject in school?
Pepper: I like all of my Ag classes
You’re on the road a lot, when do you practice?
Kaden: Before I leave for a rodeo and at a friend's palce along the rodeo trail
Burgan: We have lights on our arena, so really every night we're home
Pepper: As much as possible when I am home
Who is your traveling partner(s):
Kaden: Riley Rieken
Burgan: My family or my sister Kate!
Pepper: My mom, dad, and sister
What do you do when you are not rodeoing?
Kaden: Riding young horses and practicing a lot
Burgan: Hang out with friends and raise trouble! LOL
Riley: Rope goats in my goat roping arena, ride dirt bikes, and I also raise a 4-H lamb every year that I also work with for our local county fair.
Pepper: Crossfit, wrestle, and fish
What’s your favorite thing about rodeoing?
Kaden: The rodeo lifestyle and how we are a rodeo family
Burgan: I love rodeoing with my whole heart, but my favorite thing is the relationships I have made and continue to make! I have made lifelong friends and memories that I wouldn't trade for the world! Another thing is the competition. If I wasn't competing with the best kids in the state, I wouldn't be half the roper that I am today!
Riley: I love that it is very low key. You don't need to have a nice trailer or really nice tack or an expensive horse. It is also open to all ages which makes the competition more fun at jackpots.
Pepper: The friends and connections you will make along the way
